Francine Jacque' is a new face on the modeling scene. Born in Haiti with little opportunity, she came to America and is now pursuing a modeling career.....

ASM- So I wanted to talk about how you went from being an #athlete to being a #model and making that transition. What sport did you play?

Francine- Well I was a sprinter I ran track Division 1 in college but I’ve always wanted to be a model, it was my passion since I was a little girl. I would just wear heels and walk around the house pretending I was modeling. There's certain things you do in life and along the way you find other passions..... and that's what I found with track. I ended up loving it, it was a new stage of life that I wanted to explore. For me the mentality of track is, you must face your aspirations and work hard for it.

Someone can be more talented or prettier than you but if you out work them you can reach higher.

ASM- Yeah and that helps you in modeling....

Francine - Definitely, it helped me go after my dream so I dropped everything. My job, friends, family and I moved to a state where I didn't have anyone. I just knew I would figure it out because that's what sports taught me. Someone can be more talented or prettier than you but if you out work them you can reach higher.

ASM - That's great, taking those lessons learned as an athlete and applying it to modeling. So how long have you been modeling?

Francine- Seriously, 1 year (2019), really like after college because I wanted to put my all into it. So when I was in school, an athlete, and working, 24 hours wasn’t enough. So after I graduated I got my stuff together and yeah….

ASM- So how has your year been (so far) modeling?

Francine- Hahaha let's just say “did you die though?” haha, not just modeling but with everything. The phase of transitioning and facing your fear affects every other aspect of your life. Um, but I wouldn’t change anything about it.

ASM- Even though it's been pretty rough this first year. So what motivates you to keep going?

Francine- I think faith and hope. Moving here(New York) I’m impatient and that’s what makes it harder. I visited a few agencies and did get no’s and I also got a yes from a smaller agency, I was like oh that’s nice. It felt amazing but I was just like…

ASM- You're competitive, don’t want to settle for anything....

Francine- Right, you can do better, so I tried to submit for a bigger agency. I submitted my pictures, to be with State (State Management). When I got an email inviting me to see them I was losing it and told all my family and friends. But, even if I don’t get in the fact that they reached out to me shows me I have what it takes. ( #Persistence ) In track, I would train for hours, months and years just to race for like 10-20 seconds. So that’s why now when I take digitals I send it out, they tell me within 2 weeks if you don’t get an answer it means no. So I’m going to submit, submit, submit even if I don’t hear anything back.

( #Persistence ) In track, I would train for hours, months and years just to race for like 10-20 seconds.

ASM- So how do you deal with the No's?

Francine-I feel like in the back of my head I know the nos are just closer to the yes(s). I just need to know if it’s a no or yes so I can move on with my life.

ASM- So what’s your goal in the industry? Why are you in it?

Francine- I think I'm in it because when I think of this life.... there's a spark. I’m in love with modeling but it's not the end goal. I love creating art I think that’s what really intrigued me in pictures and even fashion shows. I want to be a designer, writer…..use my platform to help others in need. I think that’s my purpose.

ASM- What was your theme last year?

Francine - Growth, I am a totally different person

Becoming a #vegetarian automatically helped me. I became #plant based.

ASM- Give a little breakdown of how you lost the muscle that you had. You were 150 lbs and now you're down to 130 lbs.

Francine-The muscle was hard to lose because you can't work it out to lose it. So the best thing I found was #diet. Becoming a #vegetarian automatically helped me. I became #plant based.

  • No juice

  • No soda

  • No fast food

  • No eating out... At all.

Its like if I can't eat out I have to cook and I must cook healthy food because I’m only buying healthy groceries. And within a month and a half I dropped 15 pounds.

ASM- That’s fucking wild, congratulations!

Francine- And it sounds like a lot of pounds but its because it was so much muscle

*muscle weighs more than fat*

Francine- I had pre-breakfast, breakfast, lunch and dinner. So tea, apple cider vinegar, ginger, and lemon (pre-breakfast) really helped in the morning. And water everyday.

ASM- So all you athletes out there making that transition into modeling, there ya go. Trust me, we’ve done it and you can do it too. Your muscle is still going to be there. Still own it because you’re going to have your cuts and everyone will admire that anyway.

Francine- You're gonna look toned instead of bulky. So even though I’m thin I still look healthy and that’s important for the industry.

ASM- Yes so you can go from Nike to fashion.

Francine- I didn’t want to be a fitness model and I think my body type only portrayed that so that’s why I had to make the change

ASM- But you have to take those editorial shots (high fashion) to show you can do more because of your body type

Francine- Yes Yes

*Sips Tea*

Francine- Hmm the tea is good, what kind of tea is this?

ASM- Endless Life Tea, Moringa Ginger flavor

ASM- What do you want to contribute to the world?

Francine – I want to be an inspiration. The immigrant girl, the girl that just came from a catastrophic event in her country...

ASM- Country of?

Francine – Haiti. Who lost everything, her family separated. Who had a hard upbringing but by herself she changes her trajectory of her life. She disciplines and loves herself to achieve whatever her heart desires #unapologetically and #fearlessly.

ASM- That’s amazing, thank you Francine.

ASM - Before you go whats the last song you listened to?

Francine - Bop by Da Baby
